In the past month, we have taken you across the Upper Cape, Mid Cape and Lower Cape. Today, we venture to the Outer Cape, to explore all the fun rainy day activities on the Outer Cape.

Rainy Day Activities across the Outer Cape

Truro Vineyards

Hours: Mon-Sat 11am-6pm, Sun 12-7pm
Winery Tours: 1pm and 3pm Distillery Tours: 12pm and 2pm
Perched between the Atlantic Ocean and Cape Cod Bay, take a tour of this small town winery. Enjoy a wine tasting under the new pavilion and take a free guided tour of the winery. The gift shop offers an assortment of fine cheeses and wines for purchase, you can enjoy right on site.

Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum

Discover the rich history of Provincetown, from the original Mayflower Pilgrim Settlers to the town’s first fire engine built in the 1830s. Explore the new and the old rich history of Provincetown and climb to the top of the Pilgrim Monument (weather permitting.)

Provincetown Art Association & Museum

Anyone that knows Provincetown knows that it has a thriving art community. While there are lots of museums and art galleries to explore, the Provincetown Art Association & Museum showcases local artists, as well as artists who found inspiration while visiting the Lower/Outer Cape. While most of their business comes from the summer crowds, the museum is open year round.

Highland House Museum

Hours: Mon-Sat 10AM-4:30PM
Known as one of Truro’s best known landmarks, the Highland House was a hotel built on the highlands in 1907. Visit this museum to see how the people of Truro lived dating back to the early settlers.

Salt Pond Visitor Center

Hours: 9AM-5PM Daily
The Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham is a year-round visitor center, with a theater, store and museum. Films play throughout the day on rotation, along with the center’s new movie Standing Bold playing all day. The Museum shows the culture of Cape Cod, from the original Wampanoag Indians, the first settlers and today’s world. Take a walk on the Buttonbush Trail (weather permitting) while learning all about the nature and animals.

Wellfleet Wildlife Sanctuary & Climate Center

The Climate Center is dedicated to leading the community to a greener lifestyle, by showcasing the challenges and solutions of climate change. With exhibits, an indoor-outdoor Green Building Trail (showing the aspects of the building) gift shop, plus beautiful gardens and 5 miles of trails (weather permitting) it can provide as a learning activity for all members of the family.

Province Lands Visitor Center

Hours: 9AM-5PM from mid-April to mid-October
With brand new exhibits for 2018, explore the nature and history of the Province Lands. There are 3-D models, pictures, artifacts, videos and more. Films play on rotation all day long, along with the park’s new movie Standing Bold playing all day. There is also a store, outdoor exhibits and decks, providing a 360-view of the Province Land Dunes, Outer Beach and Atlantic Ocean. (Weather permitting outdoors)
