While Cape Cod is known for it’s white sandy beaches, biking trails and miles of coastline, the beautiful weather occasionally turns to rain and the beaches quickly clear out. Luckily for locals and visitors alike, the Cape has something for everyone no matter what the weather holds. Here are some of our favorite rainy day activities on the Upper Cape.

Woods Hole Science Aquarium | Woods Hole 
Hours: Tues-Sat, 11am- 4pm, year-round
The Woods Hole Science Aquarium is the country’s oldest marine aquarium! It features animals of the Northeast and Middle Atlantic waters, exhibit cases, touch tanks and more! You can watch the staff feed the animals, clean tanks and work on the life support systems.
Cape Cod Children’s Museum | Mashpee
Summer Hours: Mon-Sat 10am-5pm, Sun 12pm-5pm
Fall/Winter Hours: Mon-Fri, 10am-3pm, Sat 10am-5pm, Sun 12-5pm
The Cape Cod Children’s Museum is a non-profit organization where families can learn and play together. They encourage hands-on experiences that spark curiosity, creativity and imagination. Using music, creative movement, science, art, story time, exercise and activities that focus on local culture, kids will learn and have fun at the same time.
Cape Cod Canal Visitor Center | Sandwich
Hours: May 1 – October 28, 10am-5pm
Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Cape Cod Canal Visitor Center offers excellent insight into the rich history, fascinating features, and vigilant operation of the Cape Cod Canal. Inside you will discover a museum that is fun, fascinating, family friendly and free. Interactive exhibits offer something for visitors of all ages.
Color Me Mine | Mashpee
Hours: Tues-Sat 10am-5pm, Sun 12-5pm
A place to get creative, where everyone can be an artist! Color Me Mine is a paint your own pottery studio in Mashpee Commons, where families can make everything from plates to piggy banks! They have also just added other creative activities, such as pillow making, sign making and more! Check their Facebook for upcoming events!
Sandwich Glass Museum | Sandwich 
Hours: Daily 9:30am-5pm
A large part of Sandwich’s history has been involved with American glass production. Explore the exhibits that showcase the history with glass blowing and watch live demonstrations. A truly unique experience!
Falmouth Cinema Pub | Falmouth 
A unique twist on the movie-going experience, the Falmouth Cinema Pub allows you the chance to enjoy that latest Hollywood blockbuster while enjoying a full meal. Serving pizza, burgers, salads, sandwiches, cheese steaks, chili and more! They even have a full beer and wine menu.
Lanes Bowl & Bistro | Mashpee 
Hours: Mon-Thurs 11:30am-Midnight, Fri 11:30am-1am, Sat 10am-1am, Sun 10am-Midnight
The Lanes is an uncommon bowling experience, with state of the art ten pin bowling, an outdoor seating area and eclectic bistro. Parents can choose to bowl with the kids and be waited on by the wait staff, or let the kids go bowl as they enjoy the bistro or high top tables nearby. When it isn’t raining, the outdoor patio has a bocce court and tables under the awning. The Lanes offer creative cocktails, a dozen locally brewed beers on tap and an extensive wine list.
